No Barriers is much more than sports and science; it is also about celebrating history, culture, geography and tradition. The setting of NO BARRIERS/DOLOMITI 2004 afforded participants the opportunity to experience the history and tradition that shaped Italy's Cinque Torri region soon after World War I broke out in August, 1914. Pictured here: local soldiers, dressed in the uniforms of the Italian Alpini artillery unit, joined NO BARRIERS/DOLOMITI participants on a cloudy, wet day and explained the region’s vital role in the conflict between the Triple Alliance, Entente and Central Alliance.
