The idea for NO BARRIERS/DOLOMITI originated with four American friends: Jim Goldsmith, Wayne Hanson, Paolo Pompanin and Mark Wellman.
Their concept was for NO BARRIERS/DOLOMITI to offer an opportunity for all to share, learn and expand their knowledge about the many diverse aspects of disabled participation in active life.
In addition, NO BARRIERS/DOLOMITI 2004 was conceived as a forum to promote sports and outdoor activities for disabled persons. Particular attention was given to the mountain environment, its services and infrastructures.
The event featured the Symposium “Sharing Experiences,” an opportunity for associations and professionals who work with the many aspects of diversity and disability and the disabled to learn and share ideas and experiences.
There were a number of sport demonstrations performed by world-famous disabled athletes:
NO BARRIERS/DOLOMITI 2004 was a highly inspirational event for the participants, and stimulated extensive media coverage.
