General Purpose:
The role of the Project Coordinator is to assist the Development Team with delivery of services and fulfillment of partnership agreements across the organization. The Project Coordinator tracks and communicates between Development, Marketing, and Sponsors to manage projects, deliverables, and timelines. General administrative support and providing support across all programs is also part of the essential role of this position.

Fundraising Events Manager

Position Description
This is a full time development position designated to raise revenue for No Barriers USA through community and donor fundraising events that successfully secure and engage high level corporate and individual supporters.

Responsibilities include:

  • Raise revenue for No Barriers by creating and executing special events that drive corporate sponsorship and fundraising teams; engage individual donors; and create community support. There is a high level of corporate engagement required, some of which will be remote/virtual. Existing events include golf, hiking, community walks and third-party events that are located in communities across the country.
  • Successfully engage and execute on community relationships that drive awareness and participation in fundraising events through partnerships with groups, clubs, organizations, local business and local media as available.
  • Develop and engage teams of volunteers and corporate leaders to identify and engage community businesses, organizations, service organizations and foundations that can support event production/logistics and fundraising goals.
  • Work closely with Corporate Development Officer to steward existing corporate partners and manage a portfolio of corporate relationships
  • Support the Development Department across all fundraising initiatives and efforts as needed.

  • Contribute to positive organizational culture through intentional and identifiable actions
  • Work effectively across all departments to ensure knowledge and alignment of funding needs and opportunities
  • Support employee engagement, stewardship and recognition efforts for individuals and donors from across the organization

Qualifications and Skills – Knowledge, skills, and ability:

  • Proven success in developing, leading and managing numerous fundraising events and stewarding relationships with businesses and individuals that each generate a minimum of $100K in revenue
  • Experience with online fundraising and crowdsourcing platforms that register, connect and incentivize event participants
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a part of a dynamic and fast-paced team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once with significant attention to detail
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and timelines

Adventure Camp Director

  • Assist in teaching rock climbing, ropes course, mountain boarding.
  • Directly lead night activities, nature hikes, camp cooking/cleaning, etc.
  • Assume responsibility for leadership and guidance to those campers in daily living skills, with special attention to:
    • Personal hygiene, safety & manners
    • Camper personal interactions with respect of others
    • Camper participation in all camp activities
    • Camper personal growth, self-confidence and independence through group living.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while serving as a good role model to campers in personal language, appearance, manners and health habits
  • Put campers needs before your own, making each camper feel like the most important child in the world

Meaningful Engagement Coordinator

General Description

This is a programming role within the No Barriers Warriors team. The primary role of this position is to provide support to program participants after they complete a Warriors experience and as they work to achieve goals set during the experience. The MEC will also work with partner non-profit and governmental organizations, and No Barriers USA expedition leaders and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment and training of Alumni Coaches
  • Coordinate and monitor the transition of participants from Phase II to Phase III; (welcome email, Alumni Coach outreach, etc.)
  • Assist participants with the refinement of goals, development of an action plan, and completion of goals set during the Phase II – Transformative Experience portion of the program
  • Supports participants by connecting them with “best-in-class” non-profit partners or providing immediate referral to governmental support services
  • Facilitate regularly scheduled (weekly/monthly/as needed) contact to provide Alumni Coaches  an opportunity to review participant progress, discuss concerns and/or ideas and provide support

No Barriers Warriors Internship

Overview: No Barriers Warriors, a program of No Barriers USA, is seeking a part time intern. No Barriers provides transformative experiences as part of our mission of “unleashing the potential of the human spirit.”

The No Barriers Warriors program improves the lives of veterans with disabilities through transformative, curriculum-based expeditions in challenging outdoor environments. Each No Barriers Warriors expedition is designed to push veterans mentally and physically in some of nature’s most incredible wilderness settings. We create a safe space and encourage them to reflect on their past, recognize where they are in the present and then look with positivity to the future. These life-changing experiences are offered at no cost to our veterans and include airfare, meals, gear, and a world-class expedition crew. Each expedition is a three-phased journey that includes preparation for the expedition, the expedition, and post-expedition support and integration into the broader No Barriers Warriors community.

As a Warriors program intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in all three of the phases of a veteran’s journey, learning from and working with staff, to create the best experience possible for veterans.

Intern Requirements
The intern should be either a student (preferably a student veteran) currently pursuing a degree in Outdoor Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, or a similar field or a veteran seeking civilian work experience to enhance their resume.

Applicants must have experience with Microsoft Office, knowledge of hiking and basic backcountry skills, good oral and written communication skills, and be organized and willing to learn.

  • Assess veteran applicants based on No Barriers Warriors assessment tools
  • Work with the Warriors Service Coordinator to manage veteran expedition teams

  • Implement transformative curriculum-based experiences for veterans

  • Work one-on-one with veterans in personal goal planning

  • Develop and implement an intern project
  • Be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, as well as lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

No Barriers empowers people of all walks of life and abilities to overcome obstacles, live a life of purpose, and give back to the world – all based on our ground-breaking curriculum, the No Barriers Life. Our three core programs are:

  • No Barriers Youth – dedicated to creating experiences that challenge students perspective of the world and inspire them to make it a better place
  • No Barriers Warriors – empowering veterans with disabilities to overcome barriers and reclaim their lives through rehabilitative expeditions

Internship Focus

Learn about nonprofit management and fundraising-

  • Donor and event participant support – opportunities to help people with our online fundraising tools and other fundraising needs.
  • Event Management experience – organizing and implementing fundraising events.
  • Administration and management experience – including incentive fulfillment; designing and implementing appreciation activities; securing in-kind product donations.
  • Marketing – there will be opportunities to create unique support materials using InDesign and other tools.
  • You’ll participate in all fundraising staff and all staff meetings, including having experiences in strategic assessment and planning.
  • Learn about and perform market research for the development department and organization as a whole.
  • Help impact important life experiences for othersOur unique programming directly impacts many different people’s lives. You’ll be a part of continuing to improve our programs, services, and events.Gain valuable job skills and experienceWe believe in providing our interns with real responsibilities and we demand that you deliver.       • Our timeframe is flexible, but a long-term commitment is ideal.
      • School-Year Internship Duration: December 2017/January 2018 – May 2018
      • 15 hours per week, flexible schedule, unpaid but includes valuable nonprofit experience. Successful completion may include travel expenses and participation in one of No Barriers’ domestic programs the summer following the internship.
