Leadership in Business Workshop

Building diverse and inclusive workplaces



The Leadership in Business Workshop is a program at the No Barriers Summit that is designed to explore challenges and solutions related to Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace.  Hosted at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum and in Central Park, this will be one of the largest-ever gatherings to celebrate inclusion!

Both organizational leaders and teams can expand their capabilities, grow professional networks, collect best practices, and learn how to directly engage diverse employees.

The workshop begins the evening of Thursday, October 4th, with a Welcome Reception and premiere panel discussion.

Participants will also experience the full No Barriers Summit NYC agenda of speakers and activities, including No Barriers LIVE and the first-ever No Barriers Questival.  Performers include Ice-T, America’s Got Talent star Mandy Harvey and world renowned adventurer Erik Weihenmayer.

Leadership in Business Workshop Schedule


Location: Pera, 303 Madison Avenue, Manhattan

5 – 7 PM

Reception: No Barriers to Employment

Gather with fellow workshop participants to discuss how to catalyze careers for employees and potential employees with disabilities. A panel discussion featuring leaders at the cutting edge of hiring people with disabilities will set the tone for the discussions to come.

Opening Ceremony

Inspirational speakers and performers bring the No Barriers themes of purpose and harnessing adversity to life for all Summit attendees.

11 AM – 12:30 PM

Elective Activity

Choose from one of 20+ activities that will challenge you to push your comfort zone and try something new. From improv to bouldering, you’ll join other Summit attendees of diverse abilities in these fully accessible activities.

1 – 2:30 PM

Experiential D&I Exploring

We’ll host three concurrent D&I sessions focusing on Changing the D&I Conversation, Building Creative Partnerships, and Employment for People with Disabilities. These will be focused on unique experiences as a catalyst to spark conversation.

3 – 4:30 PM

Barrier Busting Ideation

Groups proceed through a rapid idea generating process to create meaningful solutions to defining the future of what it means to be a diverse and inclusive leader.


5 – 6:30 PM

Celebration & Questival Kick-off

Celebrate the day with us with great entertainment and gear up for our city-wide Questival.





No Barriers Questival throughout Manhattan

Rack up points and explore the city with your team as we participate in a No Barriers-themed scavenger adventure, culminating at No Barriers LIVE in Central Park. This unique activity will enable you to interact with your D&I peers and/or teams in unexpected ways that will engender creative new thinking on the future of D&I.

6 – 10 PM

No Barriers LIVE at Rumsey Playfield (SummerStage), Central Park

Venture to Rumsey Playfield for No Barriers LIVE, an inspirational and exciting special event featuring celebrity speakers and performers who bring the essence of No Barriers to life through music, performance, storytelling, innovation and more.
