OUR EXPEDITION PROGRAMS
At its core, our program is one part adventure, one part curriculum, and one part physical challenge. Each No Barriers Warriors expedition is designed to push you mentally and physically in some of nature’s most incredible playgrounds. After arriving, you’ll gear up and set out on your new mission with your team. You pushed hard during your time in the service, so we know you’re ready for the challenge. These epic adventures include airfare, any gear you need to borrow, ground transportation, and all your meals, including better backcountry cuisine than a MRE.
Our expeditions range in length from five days to seven days. Some programs run multiple times per year, others are offered once per year. Explore our specific programs to learn about eligibility, application process and FAQs.
FIVE-DAY BASECAMP EXPEDITIONS
Our five-day basecamp expeditions are multi-discipline opportunities based out of our “one-step-from-wilderness” camp in the Red Feather Lakes region of Northern Colorado. Together, your team will experience the No Barriers Life while white-water rafting the Poudre River, climbing on our local rock formations, and trekking through the Colorado backcountry. While at our rural camp, you will cook together, rest up from each day’s challenge, and spend time with your fellow veterans.
FIVE-DAY BACKCOUNTRY EXPEDITIONS
Our five-day backcountry expeditions occur in some of Colorado’s most beautiful wilderness settings. The team will gather at our rural basecamp to receive gear, sort team food and equipment, and get to know one another. First thing the next morning the team will head to the backcountry and trek to an alpine lake, establish a base camp, and attempt to summit one of the local peaks. You definitely need to be physically fit and put in the training prior to arrival. The team will cover 15 miles over three days at elevation, bonding as a team and overcoming physical and personal barriers.
SEVEN-DAY BACKCOUNTRY EXPEDITIONS
Our seven-day backcountry expeditions are set in remote wilderness areas of Colorado and New Mexico. Participants spend 5 days in the backcountry trekking at elevations ranging from 6,500 to 13,000 feet. Teams cover between 20 and 40 miles depending on the location and elevation. Higher levels of physical fitness are a must so start training now. All experiences are designed to push participants to their physical limits and encourage team camaraderie.
WARRIORS TO SUMMITS
Typically, one of our most challenging expeditions, this opportunity provides a grueling yet rewarding mental and physical challenge while helping veterans build a life long rope team. Open to veterans of all eras, and with a range of disabilities. More details about the 2018 Warriors To Summits opportunity and an official launch will occur in early 2018.
